Dancingonmoonlight is very excited to announce the addition of champion racehorse, Tattoo Artist to its Frozen Semen Stallion roster for 2025
Sired by World Champion race horse, He’s Watching (1:46.4), Tattoo Artist is a clean gaited, clean winded, $3.2 Million dollar earner who could lead in 25seconds and close in 25seconds, he was a sound horse right from 2 years old all the way to the end of his 6-year-old campaign!
He raced and won on all tracks of all sizes and took on the best of the best throughout his impressive career.
As a Two-year-old, Tattoo Artist raced in Canada starting 8 times, recording five wins and a third placing, only missing the scoreboard twice while on his way to setting a mark of 1.52.0 at Woodbine Park and earning $240,405 in stakes incl wins in the Ontario Sires Stakes legs before destroying a quality field in the $200,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Super Gold Final
As a three-year-old, Tattoo Artist got straight into his work putting together four wins in a row incl winning three legs of the Ontario Sires Stakes first in 1:50.4 then in 1:49.1 and backed that up with a 1:48.2 winning performance.
He then was an unlucky (trapped on the rail) 5th in the Pepsi North American cup elimination which saw him draw barrier 7 in the 2020 edition of the North America Cup where he finished 2nd to Tall Dark Stranger in 1:48.4.
After the North America Cup he put together another three wins in a row incl beating Captain Barbossa in the Simcoe stakes in 1:49.2 and two more legs of the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold division to go along side placings in “the Pegasus” and Matron Stakes!
All told his Glamour boy season consisted of 17 Starts for 8 wins 3 placings and $666,625 in stake earnings which saw him receive the O’Brien award for Canadian 3yo pacing Colt of the year!
As a four-year-old, Tattoo Artist added another 8 Wins and 5 placings to his resume, including a 1:47.4 winning performance in the Graduate series, backing that up with a close-up 3rd in the $300,000 final in 1:47.2
Tattoo Artists most memorable performance came at the Meadowlands on Hambletonian day where he scorched an opening half in 52.0, (25.0 + 27.0), moving on to three quarters in 1.18.3 (26.3) and fought all the way to the line in a titanic effort to score in 1:47.1, early fractions of the like have very rarely been seen since, not even in the fastest mile in the world!
Tattoo Artist then backed that performance up at the 4yo Invitation at Georgian Downs where he set a front running 1:49.0 track record performance on a 5/8 track.
19 of his 25 starts as a 4yo he recorded personal times in 1:50.2 or faster……..quite an astonishing achievement!
As a 5yo and 6yo is where Tattoo Artist showed just how durable, versatile and sound he was!
He went on to win another 19 races and place a further 20 times earning over $2million in stake earnings!
During his 5yo season he ran into a freakish horse who went on an absolute tear and changed the history of harness racing forever, but he Tattoo Artist never gave in….He took on the Bulldog on 5 occasions never finishing further back than third in all starts against him!!!
There were wins in the rich Borgota series at Yonkers, He won the $250,00 Joe Gerrity Jnr Memorial at Saratoga, 3rd to Bulldog Hanover in the fastest mile of all time 1:45.4, a 1:48.4 winning performance in the Senditin at Scioto Downs, 2nd to Bulldog Hanover in the $600,000 Canadian Pacing Derby, 2nd to Bulldog Hanover in the $600,000 Breeders Crown Final, 2nd in the Potomic pace at Rosecroft in 1:46.4, 2nd to Bulldog Hanover in the TVG open final in 1:47.3.
With the retirement of Bulldog Hanover, the Tattoo Artist Ownership group decided there was unfinished business and given how well he raced at the elite level and how sound Tattoo was, it was game on as a 6yo!
Tattoo Artist added a further 9 wins and 9 placings on the way to a $1,067,622 season that included wins in the Canadian Pacing Derby in 1:47.4, A track record performance in the Dayton Derby in 1:48.0, A win in the Jim Ewart Memorial in 1:48.2, He also won a elimination heat of the Breeders Crown before finishing a close up 3rd in the final, He also finished 2nd in the Potomac, 2nd in the William Houghton in 1:47.1, 2nd in the Joe Gerrity and 2nd in the Sam Mckee in 1:47.1
This was enough to see Tattoo Artist win the O’Brien award for Canadian Aged Pacer of the year and what a way to bow out!!
Tattoo Artist Dam Stylish Artist who is by (Artsplace) was a G1 Breeders crown winner at 2 and a G1 Mistletoe winner at 3 who went on to win $940,000 in stakes with a lifetime best mark of 1:51.0

Idyllic has also continued the precocious early running family trait leaving Idyllic Beach (SBSW), who won over $1.25 million dollars herself also winning the G1 She’s a great lady and becoming 2yo filly of the year just like her mum!
Tattoo Artist possesses the four great and highly complementary modern day sire lines (Western Hanover, Direct Scooter, Artsplace/ Abercrombie and Cam Fella all in a single pedigree!
